Popular questions

With bicycle leasing, you as an employee rent a bicycle via your employer for a period of three or four years. You pay the rent of your bicycle monthly with a part of your gross salary. When you would have that part of gross salary paid out, then a number of taxes would be deducted from it. That leaves you with a lot less net. Think of NSSO, taxes and employer contributions, etc. You do not pay these taxes if you use that piece of gross salary to pay for your bicycle lease. That means that this amount of your gross salary can go entirely to your bicycle. Whereas otherwise you would just give it to the state. The net salary you receive is now recalculated on the reduced gross salary. So you are left with a little less net income. But that does not outweigh the cycling benefit you do. Have you reached the end of your ride? After the lease period, you pay a small amount (16% or 20% of the list price, more details can be found in the Cycling policy) to take over your bicycle.
Three or four years. It depends on the agreement with your employer.
Have you come to the end of your journey? Then there are two options: You can take over your bicycle at bargain price. The residual value amounts to 16% or 20% of the list price and also applies to accessories (more information can be found in the Cycling policy or in myo2o Biker under Your bikes(s)). Or you can leave your bicycle to o2o and return it free of charge to an agreed location. This way, you contribute to a sustainable world and save your bicycle from the scrap heap. Because our partner Decathlon will pick up your bicycle at the end of the lease period, repair it and return it to the market. Has the lease contract ended and the bicycle taken over or returned? Then you can start a new lease contract, if your employer allows you to, and choose a new dream bike. Will you choose your trusted brand, a different type of bicycle or the smartest sports model? All roads are open again ...
In order to be exempt from paying tax on the Benefit in kind (like for a company car), you have to use your bicycle regularly for commuting. The legislation does not specify exactly how much "regularly" means. Usually, you determine this in consultation with your employer. For most employers, the target is 20%. This means that on average, one in five days on a yearly basis, you commute to work by bicycle.
Certainly! Your bicycle is covered for the use by your family members and colleagues. It's up to you whether you want to share your bicycle with them. Of course, the idea is that you cycle enough with it yourself. Usually, this means that you cycle to work 20% of the time (on an annual basis) so that the Benefit in kind exemption is justified. Your company's cycling policy states the exact target figure.
Do you already have a company car? No problem. You can also lease a bicycle through your employer and enjoy all the tax benefits. Are you entitled to a bicycle allowance through your employer? Then you will also receive this amount for the days that you cycle to work.
A lease bicycle is not considered as a Benefit in kind by the government. This means that, unlike company cars, you do not have to pay extra costs for this. The only condition is that you regularly cycle to work.
If you end your employment contract, your participation in your employer's bicycle plan automatically stops. In that case, there are two options: You take over your bicycle for a certain fee, which depends on the already completed term of your lease. Of course, this takeover price will be higher than when you complete the term of the lease contract. The longer your contract runs, the greater the benefit of leasing. You hand in your bicycle and pay a termination fee (determined at the start of the contract). Would you like to know what costs are involved in an early termination of a contract? You can! Simulating the costs, such as the acquisition cost or termination cost, is easy in myo2o Biker. Have you gone through the simulation of an early termination and do you want to terminate your contract? Then contact your HR manager to start the end of contract procedure.
Your gross salary is used to calculate a number of social benefits and extra advantages: Statutory pension Benefit in case of maternity leave, illness, unemployment or an accident at work Holiday allowance End-of-year bonus Group insurance Theoretically, you can have a 'smaller' pension, less unemployment benefit, etc. But because of the gross-net ratio, the impact is so small that it is actually negligible. Especially compared to the large tax benefit of bicycle leasing. If you have any doubts about your personal situation, you better contact your company's HR department.
Leasing a bicycle with o2o is always done via an employer. You will first have to convince your employer to become an o2o customer. But that should not be a problem because: For your employer, bicycle leasing via o2o is completely budget-neutral. All costs are settled through your lease contribution. Bicycle leasing via o2o also means no extra administration for your employer. The user-friendly digital tools from o2o provide a maximum peace of mind: from onboarding and order management to payroll adjustments.
